NB! Scepter fuel canisters together with spouts are designed to refuel military vehicles at maximum speed. When starting to refuel with 04353 and 04856 spouts, a small leak may occur. The canister has a small vent hole and vent tube built behind it to prevent vacuum formation. A little fuel collects in this vent tube, which may initially drip out a little from the vent holes between the canister and the nozzle. Soldiers know this, but it can be a surprise to civilians because it feels like the nozzle is leaking. The leak is only there as long as the vent tube inside the canister is empty.

The fuel that is “leaking” out from the vent hole, is residual fuel left in the vent tube from the previous use. This will always happen. A tip to eliminate some of the residue fuel is to endure that the can is always stored in an upright position. We recommend the cans should never be laying on their side where possible. For military personnel, the time factor is more important. If such a small leak is a problem, we recommend that civilians use classic fuel funnels instead of military nozzles.
